El Cid's beautiful bride Chimene (Sophia Loren) goes from love to hatred to love again for this complicated and dedicated warrior.

"The Agony and the Ecstasy" (1965)

The agony is in the form of Rex Harrison as Pope Julius II, who will not stop pushing the sensitive artist to the limits of his sanity to get the results he wants from him.

"The Greatest Story Ever Told" (1965)

Chuck is a bearded and pelt-wearing John the Baptist in the all-star mega-flick about the ministry of Jesus of Nazareth.

Charlton Heston is the ill-fated General Gordon and Laurence Olivier is Ahmed el Mahdi - squaring off for possession of Khartoum. (Chuck works again in this film with none other than Yakima Canutt, director of "Ben-Hur"'s chariot race sequence.)
