Peter Sellers

FashionState.Com's Cellarful of Sellers
Sellers in Cinema:
The Swinging Sixties, Pt. 3

A selection of photos from some of his best-known
(and some not-so-well known) screen performances.

"A Shot in the Dark" (1964)

Peter Sellers reprises his role as the klutzy Clouseau
in the first (and arguably best) of the "Pink Panther" sequels.

"A Shot in the Dark" introduced Clouseau's hyper-nervous boss,
Inspector Dreyfus (Herbert Lom)...

...and Clouseau's always-on-the-attack houseboy, Cato (Burt Kwouk).

Maria Gambrelli (Elke Sommer) is a housemaid suspected
of murder by everyone but the besotted Clouseau...

...who is much more suspicious of Maria's employer Benjamin Ballon,
played by one of Peter's own idols, the suave and impeccable
George Sanders.

"What's New, Pussycat?" (1965)

Michael James (Peter O'Toole) is a happily-engaged man
who just can't keep away from beautiful women,
so he seeks out the professional advice of pop psychiatrist
Dr. Fritz Fassbender (Peter Sellers)...who as it happens
is just as crazy, if not more so, than any of his patients.

If there are gorgeous women in the vicinity (like Capucine and
Ursula Andress), Dr. Fassbender will willingly risk the wrath
of his Wagnerian wife.

"The Wrong Box" (1966)

A stinging cameo - Peter as the unscrupulous but
absent-minded Dr. Pratt.

"The Bobo" (1967)

The beautiful but icy Olimpia (Britt Ekland) is the target of the
affections of Juan Bautista, the "Singing Matador".

"I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!" (1968)

Urban professional Harold Fine is going through
a mid-life crisis...and finds the fountain of youth and swinging times
with a lovely flower-child (Leigh Taylor-Young).

"The Party" (1968)

Another cult-comedy classic role - as Indian actor Hrundi V. Bakshi
who is thrown off the movie set, but still manages to wreak
havoc due to an invitation to a Hollywood soirée he had received
on the set earlier!

Bakshi enjoys the entertainment at the party
with beautiful Michele Monet (Claudine Longet).

"The Magic Christian" (1969)

Sir Guy Grand, the richest man in the world (Peter Sellers),
adopts a vagrant (Ringo Starr) and proceeds to demonstrate
to him how everyone in the world has his price.
